About Jesse Parr

Jesse Parr is an actor, playwright, author, and educator who has been a part of numerous mediums of storytelling for almost two decades… and he’s still got more to give. He has had the privilege of working in regional theatres in both California and Virginia, acted in short and feature films in Texas, and now works on his YouTube channel, The Story Professor, where he talks about what we can learn from stories across all mediums to tell our own. While Manta Rays Are Blankets is his first novel, Jesse has written twelve plays that have been through various stages of production at many different theatres and universities. He hopes he can publish them someday, too. Until then, there are a couple of novels in the works that have his attention!

He hails from the small town of Oakhurst, California, near Yosemite National Park, then awkwardly tumbled through life and now finds himself on the inside lip of the DFW area in Texas. He lives in a commune of sorts with his triplet siblings, his dad, and his amazing spouse. And four dogs. And two cats. And three baby armadillos underneath the porch, at one point. And a skunk that terrorizes the home from afar. And lots of transparent geckos that cover the house. And a giant yellow garden spider by the front door Jesse has named Stanli (Stanli is precious and good for the environment).
